Arriving to a new school is challenging for all teachers, whether they have many years of experience or are just beginning their careers. To facilitate this transition and continue to build a positive teacher culture, Gateway crafts a “New to Gateway” professional development program specifically for its new teachers.
New teachers arrive to Gateway early before the school year begins. During those first days they become more acquainted with the educational philosophy, pedagogical practices, as well as some organizational systems particular to our school. Then, throughout the year, they enjoy monthly “Brown Bag lunches” with instructional coaches at which they develop their own community of support in their instructional practice.
