To support effective collaboration for our students, we must facilitate effective collaboration for our teachers. Because collaboration lays the foundation for effective school-wide implementation of educational practices and outcomes, dedicated collaborative planning time for teaching teams and faculty are built into our schedule.
Early release time on Wednesdays allows for weekly school-wide professional development; block scheduling permits subject area as well as grade level planning time. But effective collaboration requires more than just time. Administration sets the expectations for use of collaborative time, while collaborative planning teams set additional norms and use protocols to support their work.
