Description
The AMIGOS Youth Ambassadors Program is a leadership development, cultural exchange, and community service program funded by the US Department of State. The Youth Ambassadors Program offers a two-way cultural exchange for high school aged participants from Latin America and the United States to receive leadership training abroad. During the three-week international training program, Youth Ambassadors study community development, civic engagement, and leadership theories and practice while living in a new community in Latin America. This training provides hands on experience in the design and implementation of a community based project. Participants then return to their home countries to implement community based service projects in their local communities. Students from the Bay Area will travel to Paraguay for the program.
THE EXPERIENCE

Applicant Qualifications
• Live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
• Ages 15-18, currently in grades 9-11
• Minimum 2 years of high school Spanish (or equivalent)
• Strong leader and an idea for service project in your community
